Welcome to my home page. I am a researcher at the Financial Stability Department of Banco de Portugal and a member of the Centre for Financial Analysis and Reporting Research at Cass Business School. I earned my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago in 2010, and then took an Assistant Professor position at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) until July 2014, followed by a Lecturer in Finance position at Surrey Business School until August 2015. I worked at Moody's Analytics from September 2015 until March 2019. My academic research interests are in Information and Financial Economics, with recent work on Earnings Manipulation, on Financial Development, Credit, and Business Cycles, and on Credit Cards. At Moody's Analytics I did research related to portfolio analytics for credit institutions, including research on credit and settlement risk, stress testing, and IFRS 9 impairments.

Please visit the Research section for more information on both my academic and applied research.
